When my husband and I moved into our house, we inherited a nice, moldy shower lining (and at no added cost). No amount of scrubbing or cleaner got rid of it, so we finally decided to dig it out and re-caulk it. The project took a long time, but, overall, the project was easy.
Here are the tools you need to complete this project, which we purchased from a local hardware store:
- Silicone Caulk for Shower/Bathtub
- Caulk Remover Tool
- Caulk Applicator Tool
- Caulk Gun
Step 1: Use Caulk Remover Tool to dig out the old caulk around the edge of the bathtub or shower.
Step 2: Thoroughly clean the area to remove any existing mold or dirt.
Step 3: Allow the area to dry completely.
Step 4: Apply caulk using caulk gun and smooth with the Caulk Applicator Tool. When applying, use a thin bead of caulk, because, otherwise, when you smooth it out, there will be a lot of excess caulk to scrape up.
